Qualification in GATE/CSIR or UGC-NET/CSIR-PhD only qualification is essential.

Master's degree (MTech/M.E./MSc/MA or equivalent) in Engineering, Environmental & Climate Sciences, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Geoinformatics, Economics, Law, Public Policy, Statistics, Computer Science, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Nano Science, Material Science or M. Tech: Civil Engineering, Land and Water Resources Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Climate Science, Statistics allied disciplines with First Division*.

OR

B.Tech./B.E. in relevant disciplines with CGPA ≥ 8.5.

GATE required, except for IIT graduates, who are exempted from GATE.

AND

Mandatory national-level qualification: GATE / UGC-NET / CSIR-NET in the proposed PhD subject area.

For UR/EWS/OBC(NC) category:
  • A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate, OR
  • A First class as specified by the university, OR
  • A minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 0–10, OR
  • An equivalent on other corresponding proportional scales.
For SC/ST/PwD category:
  • A minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, OR
  • A First class as specified by the university, OR
  • A minimum CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 0–10, OR
